MANILA — In a bid to prevent human trafficking and other crimes at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said it will extend the retention period of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at NAIA to 90 days from the current 30 days.

“We have identified the critical cameras in areas (needed), especially with those going in and out of our pre-departure gates,” MIAA assistant general manager Bryan Co said in Filipino during a press briefing on Tuesday.

“For those arriving, where the passengers will pass through, our key cameras are being identified so these will be upgraded,” he added.

Co said the process to procure an upgraded CCTV system is underway and the contract may be awarded on Monday.

The new system is expected to be operational in a couple of weeks, he said.
