Marcos made this statement while acknowledging reports indicating an increase in the country’s labor force participation to 66.6 percent in December 2023, along with a rise in the employment rate to 96.9 percent.

In a post on his X account, the President pledged the government’s dedication to creating a favorable and supportive atmosphere conducive to employment expansion.

“Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang pag-unlad at kasaganaan ay hatid sa bawat tahanan, sapagkat tiyak na may magandang trabahong naghihintay para sa bawat Pilipino (In the New Philippines, progress and prosperity is ensured in all homes because jobs are guaranteed for every Filipino),” Marcos said.

In his post, President Marcos expressed satisfaction with the substantial progress and resilience observed in the country’s labor market.

He commended the decrease in the unemployment rate to 3.1 percent and the reduction in the underemployment rate to 11.9 percent.

“This positive momentum is attributed to robust growth across all major industry groups, with construction, agriculture, and services leading the way,” he wrote.

In light of these positive developments, President Marcos pledged that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to cultivating an environment conducive to employment growth.

“We will continue to implement both demand- and supply-side interventions, including pro-investment reforms and strategic partnerships, to attract more investments,” Marcos said.

“The enactment of initiatives such as the Public-Private Partnership Code and the 4PH Housing Program will further stimulate economic activity and create more job opportunities,” he added.

President Marcos emphasized that the government will also prioritize up-skilling and re-skilling initiatives and encourage innovation to equip the workforce with the essential skills and adaptability required to excel in numerous high-quality employment opportunities.
