MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is studying the possibility of increasing the amount of financial assistance provided to the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) due to the high cost of goods.

According to the DSWD, since the 4Ps became law in 2019, the amount of cash aid provided to program beneficiaries has not changed.

DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez said that based on the order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, the DSWD, NEDA and PSA must study the correct formula to be used to increase the assistance provided by the government for the poor citizens of the country.

However, Lopez said that it is not easy to increase the cash grant to the beneficiaries of the program because it still requires an amendment by Congress to the existing law regarding the 4Ps.
