DOH: Daily average of new Covid-19 cases in Philippines down 10%

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported that the daily average of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases dropped by 10 percent from September 26 to October 2.

From 2,556 per day recorded from Sept. 19 to 25, the number decreased to 2,288 daily in the recent week.

Based on the most recent case bulletin, there were 16,017 new cases and 228 verified deaths.

The DOH said that of the additional deaths, 34 occurred from September 19 to October 2.

During the same time period, four cases were added to the total of severe and critical infections, which dropped to 753 from 790 the previous week.

Only 24.3 percent or 611 out of the 2,515 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are in use, while 26.2 percent or 5,579 of 21,316 non-ICU beds are utilized.

About 73,181,447 or 93.70 percent of the country’s target population (78,100,578) are now vaccinated against Covid-19, including 78.51 percent of 8,721,357 senior citizens.

There are 19,760,243 individuals who have received booster shots out of the fully vaccinated population as of October 2.

House committees to hold hearings during break
