President Rodrigo Duterte greeted his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on her 42nd birthday this Sunday.
In a video message, the president advised her daughter to always be an honest servant to the country they are both serving.
“Be true to your country. Work hard for the people. And the rewards I think are there, made in heaven, not here. Trabaho ka lang and be good (Just work and be good),” he said.
“Happy birthday, I love you,” he added.
Duterte shared how he always said Sara will be a mayor of Davao City, even when she was still a baby.
“Alam ng nanay niya (her mother knows), when I was cuddling the baby… I’d call her ‘Inday’ and she will be mayor of Davao City,” he recalled fondly.
Besides Sara’s birthday, May 31 was doubly a special day because it is his late parents’ wedding anniversary.
