Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan stands by her daughter, Frankie Pangilinan, as she voices out her opinions about current social issues that trended nationwide.

“She has her mother’s “no beating around the bush” attitude and she has my political leanings,” the senator said. Frankie’s mother is veteran actress and singer Sharon Cuneta.

“If she wishes to be one of the voices of her generation, I will support her,” added Sen. Kiko

The senator recalled his days of youth activism, noting that this must be how his father felt when he marched to the streets.

“Now I understand how my father felt when I too was marching on the streets,” Sen. Kiko said. “Speaking out is not easy. But somebody has to do it.”

Frankie said she will continue to share her opinions based on her principles and will not let aggressive trolls stop her from saying what she feels is right.

“For me, it’s not really a matter of politics but it’s always been more a matter of principles. At the end of the day, I would march for my principles and I would march for what I believe is right,” she said.

Frankie, using her Twitter account @kakiep83, trended on social media last week when she rebutted television Ben Tulfo’s victim-blaming remarks on rape victims. Tulfo even addressed her as “hija” in his tweet, which Frankie responded with a hashtag #HijaAko and backed by many netizens with their own stories of harassment.

The young woman is also known to be actively tweeting her diseent over the Anti-Terrorism Bill and support to Rappler boss Maria Ressa, who was convicted of cyber libel charges last Monday.
