Boxing fans may see Pacquiao fight UFC superstar McGregor in 2021

Senator and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will be in a match against UFC superstar Conor McGregor next year, his office confirmed Saturday, September 26.

Although details of the match are still not finalized, Pacquiao’s office revealed that is a huge portion of Pacquiao’s earnings from the fight will be used to help in COVID-19 response efforts.

“Our lawyers are finalizing all the confidential details, but both fighters are getting ready for this one epic last boxing fight,” the statement read.

McGregor himself made the announcement of his return to the ring in his Twitter account. His camp later clarified that discussions between the two parties are still ongoing.

“I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East,” the Irish mixed martial arts fighter said.

Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion and oldest welterweight champion in boxing history. He holds a record of 62 wins, seven losses, and two draws in a career that spans over two decades.
