Tenth month into the COVID-19 pandemic, the health department continues to remind Filipinos to follow minimum health protocols, especially with family members, friends, and co-workers.

Dr. Dominic Maddumba of the DOH Health Promotion Bureau in a virtual briefing expressed concern over the complacency of the public when around familiar faces.

“Parang nagiging kampante ‘yung mga tao dun sa mga immediate na mga contacts nila like family members, also mga friends or workmates,” Dr. Maddumba answered when asked about the challenges faced by the agency in reminding people of health standards.

Maddumba emphasized that infections will be much lower if people closely observe the set protocols against COVID-19.

He also reported that the DOH is coordinating with their regional units to intensify information the campaign to the public on the necessary preventive measures in areas where cases are spiking.

On Wednesday, new COVID-19 cases reached the highest reported in a single day since November. Topping the list of areas with new cases are Baguio City, Cebu City, and Davao City.
