US advised citizens not to travel to PH due to COVID-19 situation

The United States government on Wednesday issued an advisory for its citizens urging them not to travel to the Philippines due to the of COVID-19 situation in the country.

A Level 4: Do Not Travel restriction was issued by the US Department of State, in accordance with the advice of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Level 4 list previously included only three dozens countries. 100 other countries are now added in the the updated Do Not Travel alert.

Even US citizens who are fully vaccinated are discouraged from flying to the Philippines due to the current COVID-19 situation in the country.

If traveling to the Philippines cannot be avoided, the CDC urged travelers to complete their vaccine shots first. It said all travelers should wear a mask, practice physical distancing, and follow minimum health protocols.

The Philippines has recorded at least 953,106 COVID-19 cases, with 127,006 active cases. Parts of the country, including the capital region Metro Manila, are experiencing a surge in new infections.
