Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go advised the national government to be careful in crafting the guidelines and avoid “rushing” the planned resumption of motorcycle taxis.

The Palace earlier revealed that they may soon allow backriding in motorcycles, explaining that the guidelines for the policy is already being finalized.

Go said in a statement.

[We should not rush it. We should make sure that it will be implemented in a safe way.]

[We have to study if using plastic dividers between the driver and the passenger is sufficient to block the transmission of the virus.]

While Go recognizes it can provide employment for Filipinos, health and safety should be the “most important” factor in considering the resumption of motorcycle taxi operations.
