Sen. Richard Gordon said that there is nothing wrong with President Rodrigo Duterte taking the weekend off to rest at home in Davao City, despite said weekend being the height of supertyphoon Rolly.
“Each one to his own taste and judgment… Even God said you should rest on the 7th day,” Gordon told reporters when asked about the issue.
“Everybody has the duty to protect the president of the Philippines. The president will not go if there is a threat to his life and a threat can be physical or can be a health threat,” he added.
After the deluge of criticisms for his absence during the calamity, Duterte flew to a hard-hit town in Albay to visit the residents and survey the area.
