Moreno, Remulla reconcile after cash aid distribution issue: ‘Peace na kami’

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla reconciled over earlier pronouncements related to cash aid distribution in a town in Cavite.

“Wala kaming away ni Yorme. Peace na kami so let’s move on,” Remulla said in a tweet after he hit back at Moreno in a Facebook post on Friday.

Early this week, the mayor of Manila expressed dismay when asked during a briefing about former informal settlers in Manila who relocated to the town of Naic under a government housing program. They reportedly have yet to receive cash assistance for families affected by strict restrictions on March 29 to April 11. He said those who only provide aid to voters are an example of a “trapo” (traditional politician).

“Next time magparehistro na sila dun sa bayan na yun…pero hindi para iboto ang loko-loko na ‘yon,” said Moreno, referring to Naic Mayor Jun Dualan.

Moreno’s remarks did not sit well with the Cavite governor. Remulla explained that the cash assistance for Cavite was insufficient and that the 1,092 families who moved to Naic were not part of the 2015 census that was the basis to determine beneficiaries.

“Yorme, alam ng lahat ang ambisyon mong maging Pangulo. Wala namang isyu ‘don. Libre mangarap ang kahit sino. Pero sana ay huwag mong tapakan ang iba para lamang umangat ka. Hindi ka pa nga Pangulo ay ang yabang mo na,” Remulla said in a Facebook post.
