The weather disturbance located near Davao City intensified into a tropical storm “Dante” on Monday, but state weather bureau PAGASA did not raise storm signals yet.

According to PAGASA’s bulletin, light to moderate, with at times heavy rains, will be experienced over Caraga, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Bukidnon, and Misamis Oriental due to the outer rainbands of Tropical Storm Dante.

As of latest, Dante was last spotted 625 kilometers east of Davao City. It has an intensity of 65 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.

While “Dante” could intensify further, the weather forecaster said it will not reach typhoon category. It is seen to gradually intensify in the next two days before weakening. PAGASA said it will remain over the Philippine Sea before it turns generally northward on Thursday and northeastward on Friday.
