MANILA — There will be an increase in PhilHealth and Social Security System (SSS) members’ contribution starting January 2023.

The increase in SSS contribution reaches 1 percent along with the increase in salary credit of employees of P30,000. The height will be assumed by the employers in accordance with the SSS Law.

SSS for example that if a member’s salary is P35,000 per month, his contribution will reach P4,200 starting January 2023 from the current P3,375.

Yung increase po ng contribution na 1 percent will be borne by our employers, hindi po sa empleyado hetong 2023 ‘yung increase na 1 percent,” SSS President and CEO Michael Regino explained.

Regino emphasized that this is favorable for the members because the contribution has forced savings when it comes to retirement.

Meanwhile, .5 percent will be an increase in the contribution to PhilHealth from the current 4 percent or will be 4.5 percent starting in January.

For example, if the worker’s salary is P10,000, the contribution will increase by P450 from P400 while if the worker’s salary is higher than P10,000 to less than P80,000, the additional contribution will be from P50 to P850 for PhilHealth members.

“Kung P90,000 and above, isa lang ang babayaran nyan P4,050 a month so kung employed ka hati kayo ng employer nyo, 50-percent, 50 percent,” PhilHealth Spokesperson Shirley Domingo said.

Domingo explained that the increased contribution to PhilHealth is to enhance the benefits received by members.

The leadership of Pag-IBIG Fund wants to take the side of employers and workers first before implementing their plan to add P100 to the current P100 contribution.
